Chennai Villa is a lovely homestead in the outer suburbs of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu state in south India. It offers accommodation for small parties of 1-4 visitors seeking an authentic Indian experience at genuine Indian prices.
Chennai Villa is located between Ambattur and Avadi, 20km from the city centre and only 2.5km from the main railway line which gives fast access to the city centre and outlying districts. It gives foreign visitors the opportunity to experience every day Indian life away from the hustle and hype of tourist precincts.
While India can be a relatively cheap holiday destination, hotel rates in the big cities are quite high. Daily rates for a reasonable hotel room would start at Rupees 1500 / US $40. Chennai Villa offers twin share accommodation, furnished in Indian style, for approximately 1/3rd of this rate (no hidden charges). The caretaker can provide Indian style vegetarian meals at local Indian prices, and the help of a reliable guide is also available if desired.

Facilities:
Bedrooms: Two bedrooms, containing one double bed or 2 single beds. Blankets provided, but please bring your own linen.
Toilets: Asian and western styles.
Water: Groundwater (for washing, etc) and private reserviour filled by rainwater and tanker deliveries (for consumption, once boiled). Water conservation is a must. Bathing facilities are tap, plastic bucket and cup (the traditional Indian method).
Electricity: Yes.
Cooling: Ceiling fans in all rooms.
Rubbish collection: None. Food waste is fed to street animals. Newspaper and plastic bottles have recycle value so should be left with caretaker. Plastic bags, plastic cups & packaging have no re-use value and are an environmental problem; please minimize / avoid their use.
Television: Not provided
Internet connection: Broadband connection, but you must bring your own laptop. Otherwise there are browsing centres at Ambattur.
Services:
Meals: Traditional Indian vegetarian meals are provided by caretaker at local prices. They are prepared to western standards of hygiene.
Laundry: Caretaker can arrange washing & ironing of clothes.
Local Guide: A reliable and experienced guide is available for transfers, preparation of itineries, general guidance and emergency support, if required. Our guide can help you tailor your visit to your personal interests.
Rates:
Accommodation: US $15 per room per day. Discounts can be negotiated for bookings which exceed 1 week.
Meals and Laundry: Local prices, paid direct to caretaker
